Government General Degree College, Mangalkote Online Admission Information Summary
Admission is the lifeline of any educational institution as it facilitates the annual entry of new aspirants into the system. In short, it is a process of renewal, which vitalizes and rejuvenates the educational institutions. This process of renewal, however, is contoured by institutional norms and policy frameworks. The admission of new entrants into the system is thus a spontaneous process – occurring naturally every year, yet circumscribed by caution.
In order to handle the process of admission, Government General Degree College, Mangalkote, has formed the admission committee, with the Officer-in-Charge, Convener of the committee and Nodal Officer of the college, working hand-in-hand to understand, follow and conduct the admission process according to the latest regulations and guidelines of the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal, and the affiliating university, the University of Burdwan. Other members of the committee systematically look after essential aspects of the admission process, following the instructions of the Convener. There is a dedicated admission help-desk to respond to the queries of the applicants. The Head of the Departments also assist the committee members to conduct the admission smoothly.
The admission committee has over the last few years worked tediously to design an information brochure for the students seeking admission to the college, focusing on three major areas: a) institutional distinctiveness, motto and future plan, research involvement and best practices of the college, b) the code of conduct for the students – academic discipline and zero-tolerance policy as regards sexual misconduct and ragging within the college premises, and c) guidelines for applicants, detailing the admission criteria, intake capacity, subject combination and itinerary of publication of merit lists, along with other relevant information. Such information is also available on the website with additional information on merit-point calculation and seat matrix. Previous year admission record is available for the information and record of concerned authorities.
